Muscle Failure

Exercising until muscle failure is a common technique designed to completely exhaust the targeted muscle group. When muscle failure is achieved, the weight or exercise being performed is no longer possible to execute as the muscle strength is no longer available, hence the failure.

It should be performed with caution as when muscle failure is achieved, there is very little control over the weight being utilized. It is required to enlist a spotter to assist with any exercise where a weight is lifted over the head or body while attempting muscle failure.
