Are the Holidays here Again Already?
The time for fun in the sun has come and gone and the holidays are now upon us. This time of the year can be particularly challenging for many individuals as the mounting tensions of the holidays add up with the seemingly never-ending quantities of holiday treats. We all know where this leads: self-bargaining ("Oh, I will only have just one more, I have been good today") and New Years Resolutions that do not last.
Rather than fall into this common trap, try to follow a few pieces of simple advice that will keep the fun of the holiday foods from overstaying their welcome.
First, eat everything in moderation but try to focus on lean proteins. Turkey is the most common food for Thanksgiving and it also happens to be one of the best meats you can eat. It is lean, inexpensive, and offers a good amount of flavor. So double up on the turkey and take a half-portion of stuffing.
Second, do not skimp out on your workouts. Schedules get crazy with visiting family, hanging out with friends and crazy holiday shopping. Try to get your workouts in as early as possible before the activities of the day begin. This way you will be sure to have enough energy to exercise effectively and you can feel great knowing that you won't have to do it later in the day.
The last piece of advice, enjoy yourself. This is a special time of year when people travel far and wide to be with the people they care about so take a load off and slow your day down. Take the time to recharge and enjoy life.
