My Favorite Night To Workout

I'm not going to lie, I love working out on Friday nights after 8pm at my gym. Generally, I'm too mentally drained to go out with friends after a long day of work but I do have the physical energy to get a killer workout in.

So what do I like about it so much? For starters, the place is near empty and the weights are somewhat organized. That means the pair of dumbbells I'm looking for are actually where they belong, on the weight rack! There are also no group classes on Friday nights so all the studio rooms are wide open for me to do whatever is in my workout plan. One of my favorite activities is lunges (with dumbbells) going the full length of the room. I get about 14 reps per leg on a single down and back set.

If I don't do lunges, I'll get on the treadmill for a while. In most gyms, there are lines of cardio equipment and during peak times, just about every unit is occupied. I like having my fresh air around me when I do cardio. Taking large breaths of "sweat smell" from the person next to me is not my idea of a good time.

I know the last thing anyone wants to do after working the entire week is go to the gym but I highly suggest giving it a try. Think of it this way... any stress you may have acquired from the week will be relieved significantly once you start exercising. You also get to save yourself from going on a Saturday morning when the gym is unbelievably busy. So sacrifice going out on a Friday night and give the gym a try, you won't be disappointed.

Note: I know going on a Saturday at this time will be the same experience but I prefer to try and do something non-fitness related on my Saturday nights.
